Umpires are owed a MASSIVE APOLOGY for all the calls that looked like balls, but Umpires correctly called as Strikes.

The best example of how the Umpires are being maligned regarding their balls and strikes calls occurred on the final pitch of the 2026 WBC championship.

What all of us armchair umpires have been missing (actually I did bring it up in an earlier article or comment somewhere on the internet) has been a pitch can enter the front of the batters box as a strike, and by the time the pitch has landed in the catcher's mitt, has dropped another foot and clearlys looks like the pitch is low and should be called a ball.

If I can find the actual sideways image that clearly shows the pitch crossed the knees, I will add it to this topic post, since that was the moment all doubt was removed, the Umpires have been taking heat because of a strike zone box that is unable to show depth, properly, which I had discussed very early in 2026.
